Areas of Interest

My research and teaching interests are in the investigation of Information Centric issues spanning 3 core facets: modeling, simulation and exchange of information to support distributed collaboration. Our research group investigate such issues across various process domains including manufacturing/robotics, space systems design/assembly, and medicine.

We have adopted an unique multi-disciplinary perspective to most of our projects as we cross traditional boundaries involving disciplines and departments. Some of our thrusts include:

  • Creation of Virtual Reality /Augmented Reality (VR) based environments
  • Design of Cyber (Digital) Manufacturing Collaborative Frameworks
  • Design of Cyber-Human frameworks and environments involving VR/AR
  • Next Generation Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Cyber Physical frameworks
  • Semantic frameworks for distributed collaboration
  • Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Immersive 3D Techniques and Tools for helping children with autism learn STEM
  • Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) based learning approaches in engineering and K-12 education

I co-direct a Center for Cyber-Physical Systems, which has been established to address such unique multi-disciplinary perspectives. Our group's pioneering work spans multiple domains ranging from advanced manufacturing to space systems. More information can be found here (http://vrice.okstate.edu)

During my PhD studies at Texas A&M, my mentor and advisor was Dr. Richard Mayer, who is one of the founders of the Information Centric school of thought. He is now the Founder and President of Knowledge Based Systems, Inc. (KBSI) (www.kbsi.com) in College Station, TX.
